We know, this is hard to believe.

We expected your skepticism.

Purchasing your energy supply from one company while that supply is still delivered and serviced by your local utility is a fairly new concept. It's only natural that people are more than a little skeptical. We understand. Magellan had to convince people the world is round.

How can North American Power offer competitive rates on my electricity?
When your state deregulated its energy market, it opened the industry to competition so that homeowners and businesses could shop for the best value. This has allowed companies like North American Power to buy energy in the wholesale markets and have greater control over the rates we can offer customers. Our electricity flows into the Local Power Pool and is delivered to your home or business by your local utility via existing power lines just as it always has. The only difference will be a new electric rate on the supply portion of your bill.

What other benefits will I receive from North American Power?
North American Power is committed to the environment, providing renewable energy options at no extra cost. As a greenelectric customer, you can feel great knowing that either 25% or 100% of the electricity you use will be offset through the purchase of renewable energy certificates made on your behalf.

Your local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) still reads the meters and maintains the poles and wires that deliver your electricity.

How do I know if I am in a deregulated part of the state and eligible to switch to a Retail Electric Provider (REP)?
If you currently receive service from a REP, you are eligible to switch to North American Power. Please call us at 1-800-396-6035 if you need assistance.

When enrolling with us, just indicate that you're moving in and select a desired start date.

How long does the switch take?
A standard switch is completed in 7 days or less. You can request a specific date for your switch to take place when you enroll through our website, though the TDU may charge you for the selected date. If you are moving to a new property, the connection will take about the same time. A priority move-in request is available, though your TDU may charge you for the expedited request.

Once enrolled, North American Power will calculate an average monthly payment based on your contracted rate and terms, and your historical usage and notify you of the monthly amount. At least once every twelve months, we will reconcile your account as appropriate against your actual usage during prior Level Billing periods.
